Just a Thought: Some days we are the needle and some days we are more like the haystack. The Lord sent Jeremiah the prophet into Jerusalem to find just one person who was living righteously and seeking truth. If he could find that one needle in the haystack of rebellious people, God would forgive the city and spare them His judgment. But Jeremiah’s search was less successful than the angels in Sodom. As hard as that is to believe it was true. The report came back, “…They made their faces harder than stone and refused to repent.” (Jer 5:3b) Wow! I know we stand amazed at that fact (or at least I do). But then I look at our world today and though that is a much larger area I think, Lord there must be days in some neighborhoods, towns, cities, etc. You feel like You are searching for a needle in a haystack when You search for someone to take a stand for You. Who will go for us was the question the Lord asked Isaiah? And it is still the question He is asking today. Who among us will be the needle instead of looking like the rest of the haystack? Who will turn to the Lord? Who will trust in Him? Who will put Him first in their life? Who will share their faith? Who will use their God given gifts for Him? Some days we are the needle and some days we are more like the haystack. But which one will we be today? If the Lord searched your neighborhood, hometown or city would you be standing out as the one He could call upon and use? Are you the one who will spare your city judgment because you have turned from sin and are living for the Lord, searching for truth and honoring God with your life? This world is unfortunately full of haystacks. Full of those who have selfish agendas. Full of those who desire to live for themselves and not the Lord. But, somewhere in the midst of most of these haystacks are a few needles. They may be hard to find, but they are in there. Our job is to be that needle. To be that one the Lord is looking for. To be that one who has turned from rebellion against the Lord to true repentance and are now living for the Lord. Some days we look more like the needle and some days we look more like the haystack. Let’s focus our attention on being the needles and may the Lord find in us one He is looking for and can count on to go for Him! Would you dare to step forward as Isaiah did and say, “Here am I Lord, send me?”
