Just a Thought: All of heaven rejoices when one sinner repents! Jesus told of three parables in Luke’s gospel in which three things were common. First, something was lost. Second, the search for what was lost emphasized that what was lost had great value. And third, when what was lost was found, there was a great rejoicing because it was found! In each of these lessons, Jesus is teaching we are like the lost item. We are lost, separated from the owner. In our case that would be the Lord. We are portrayed as having greater (or even greater) value than the items. But the big point is to show us when we are found (repent of our sins and restored to a right relationship with God), there is great rejoicing in heaven! All of heaven rejoices when one sinner repents! This is what Jesus said, “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Lk. 15:10) Every time one sinner, turns from their sin and by God’s grace is restored to a right relationship and fellowship with God, all of heaven throws a party! I tried to throw my first surprise party for my wife’s birthday a few years ago. I’m not very good at this stuff so the surprise ended up not being a surprise. But we had a group of people come over and celebrate her birthday. Pardon the pun, but my little party idea would not hold a candle to what the party of the repentant look like. Why a party you ask? Because we are just that, loved and valuable to the Lord! We are so loved He gave His own Son for us. We are so precious, He came seeking that which was lost to find us. We are so loved and precious to Him that every time one of us is found (eternally saved, redeemed, rescued, restored), He shows how worth it all that He went through was by celebrating with joy and excitement! Someone may say, well aren’t people getting saved every day? I would say so. So, is there a party in heaven “every time?” That’s what Jesus said. Heaven is where the party is!! You are worthy of God throwing a party. We should rejoice over sinners repenting and being saved as well. My friends, if you have repented and been saved, this is the value the Lord places on that. I pray we never take our salvation for granted. If you have not yet repented and been saved. The Lord is still looking for you. He loves you and desires to save you and throw a party in heaven in your honor. Won’t you repent and be saved today? Jesus is waiting.
