Just a Thought: The Lord’s vengeance is always better than ours. We can all think of times when we have been wronged. We can all think of how we would like to get even with this one or that one. But what a waste of precious time that is. To spend something as valuable as time scheming and worrying about how to get even is to waste time you can never get back. Vengeful thinking is a thief that steals our joy, peace and makes us miserable! Not to mention it makes us look, act and talk more like the devil than it does the Lord. So, we need to not do it! Besides, the Lord’s vengeance is always better than ours. The prophets understood this and we need to too. We need to understand the Lord will take care of those who trust in Him. This means He will provide for us. He will protect us. And He will take up our case for us when it is necessary. I have seen this over and over again in ministry. In fact, people should be VERY careful when they come after or against the people who are trusting in the Lord and walking in His will because they are actually fighting against the Lord when they do (Just ask Saul who became Paul). Believe me when I tell you the Lord takes these attacks as personally as we do. But, when He handles it, it is always better than anything we could do. The reason is because He does it with righteousness and true justice. He doesn’t go tit for tat. He always deals with it divinely. This was a comfort to the prophet Nahum, and it should be to us as well. Nahum reminded the people (and us), “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, but with an overwhelming flood he will make an end of [Nineveh] (you can place the name of your enemy here too); he will pursue his foes into darkness.” (Nah 1:7-8) The principle and promise here are still true today. The Lord is good to those who trust in Him. Count your blessings more than you count your enemies. Thank the Lord for His goodness to you daily! The Lord is a refuge in times of trouble. You don’t have to fear an enemy that seems to be attacking you or trying to bring you down because you are wrapped in the arms of the fortress of our God. And they will be unable to penetrate His protection. Like the old song says, His banner of me is love. And He will take care of whipping the enemy when it’s time. So, you can stop wasting time looking for how you are going to defend yourself or get even. He will handle this in His way and in His time. There are far more valuable and important things for us to be spending our time on, than thoughts of vengeance. We have to focus on the care and the work of the Lord. Don’t let the enemy stall you out with a focus on him or how to get even because our battle belongs to the Lord and it is not even with flesh and blood. Focus your mind and energy on God’s care for you as you trust in Him and keep making the advances He has called you to! Today, Lord, I refuse to be distracted or focus on anything but Your goodness and care for me as I continue to trust in and walk with You. Holy Spirit lead the way today. In Jesus name, amen.
