Just a Thought: You are safe in the arms of the Lord! Daniel certainly believed this. He told King Darius he would be fine no matter what happened. Throw me in the den of lions. The Lord will deliver me one way or the other. Either He’ll protect me or take me home to be with Him. Either way it is fine with me (my paraphrase). Daniel was older at this time and had walked with the Lord and seen His deliverance of him before. He knew the Lord could be trusted and he believed it. And the next morning after the king was forced by his own law to cast Daniel into a den of hungry lions. The king rushed to the place where Daniel was in hopes to find Daniel’s faith in his God to be true. And when they arrived at the place and the king cried out to Daniel hoping to hear his voice return to him. This is what Daniel reported. “My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king.” (Dan 6:22) This report turned king Darius to the Lord and caused him to testify of Daniel’s God’s worthy praise through all of the kingdom. What is the point? The point is trust in the Lord! You are safe in the arms of the Lord! Whether He delivers you or takes you home. Does God deliver everyone from physical harm? No. The voices of the martyrs testify to that truth. But does He deliver all those who trust in Him? Yes. One way or the other. And either way, you are still safe in the arms of the Lord. So, today, put all fear aside. Walk faithfully and freely with the Lord. Have the same faith, knowledge and freedom as Daniel. No matter what happens, I am safe in the arms of the Lord! And by your faith and faithful testimony you too can turn others to the Lord.
