Just a Thought: God chooses to see me apart from my sin. God’s love has caused Him to desire to save men from their sin (Jn. 3:16) He did not wait for us to get cleaned up. Become better people. Nor did He say, “Well if they will love Me I will provide salvation for them. No! But while we were sinners He died for us (Rom. 5:8) And, then once He provided that salvation He has been drawing men to Him. Now, all who will put their faith and trust in His salvation which comes through the sacrificial death (in our place for our sin), burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ will be saved. We are saved by acknowledging Jesus as Lord and accepting His acts of grace and mercy to provide us complete forgiveness and salvation. But then, on top of that. God does not ignore my sin. He doesn’t pretend I didn’t sin. He chooses to forgive my sin completely and put my sin away from Him and me. He removes my sin so that He can see me without my sin. And this is a deliberate and divine act. Listen to the elaborate description the Psalmist gives us. “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” (Ps 103:11-12) What amazing love and what amazing grace. If anyone should hold something over my head, God has that right. If anyone should remind me what a sinner I am, He has that right. If anyone could come back at me with, “here we go again…” it is my Lord. But He never does and He never will. We all know people who say, “I forgive you. But I won’t forget what you did.” Think about it. God says, I forgive you and I choose to never remember what you did”. Even though in my humanity, I still fail on earth. I sin every day. And every time I do, He invites me to come to Him and agree (confess) to Him my sin. Confession involves more than just saying, “Yes Lord I sinned.” Confession means it grieves us enough to tell the Lord “I know I did or didn’t do this or that and it was wrong. It was sin and it hurt or dishonored You Lord.” Confession means to agree with God about our sin and have desire to turn away from it. And God makes us this promise in His word. When we confess our sins, God is faithful (every time) to forgive our sins (separate and forget about our sin) and cleanse us of “ALL” unrighteousness (1 Jn. 1:9). God chooses to see me apart from my sin. And He chooses to do the same for all who will trust Him for His great salvation. There is simply no reason for us to die in our sin unless we choose to refuse the amazing love and grace of God! The choice is ours. We must choose to embrace His salvation or reject it.
