Just a Thought: The question is asked and answered in the great old song, “Where Could I Go But, to the Lord.” The Lyrics which say, “Living below, in this old sinful world. Hardly a comfort can afford. Striving alone, to face temptation’s sword. Where could I go but to the Lord? Where could I go, oh where could I go? Seeking a refuge for my soul. Needing a friend, to help me in the end. Where could I go, but to the Lord?” This tells it all. Where in this old world can we go to find what we need? Only to the Lord. He provides all I have need of. Isaiah was reminding God’s people of this in Isaiah fifty-five. He wrote, “Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live.” (Isa 55:3) This is the invitation: When God’s people come to Him and listen (obey) to Him they will have full lives, eternal lives. And the benefits of God’s eternal covenant. In the Lord we will have strength to face and refuse the temptations that seek to destroy us. In The Lord we will find a refuge for our weary souls. In Him we have a true friend. In Him we have someone who is with us now and through to the end! Those who come to the Lord will always know His good hand is upon them. And He will always be with them. Where could I go on this earth to find all of that? Nowhere but, to the Lord! By coming to the Lord, we are saying we trust in Him. We are relying on Him for salvation. And we are agreeing to trust and obey His word. And, for this the blessings of the Lord are without cost to us! My friend, where have you been looking for the benefits? Who have you tried to rely on? What has been the source you could count on when all else fails? There is only one answer and one source that can guarantee you they are worthy and capable of your trust. He is the Lord our God. The question is asked and answered in the great old song, “Where Could I Go But, to the Lord.” The only question unanswered is, will you come to the Lord? His grace and benefits await all who will come to and call upon the Lord today.
