Just a Thought: The Lord is my protector and my security. Paul asks in Romans eight, “What can separate us from the Love of God?” And basically, it is a rhetorical question because there is nothing that can separate us from God’s love. Proverbs’ wisdom tells us the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. In other words, one is wise to fear (i.e.) reverence God. And when we wisely do this, we submit ourselves to His Lordship and authority. We obey Him. We trust in Him. We rely upon Him. And why wouldn’t we do this? God loves us unconditionally! In other words, why wouldn’t I believe and walk with the one who loves me like this and trust in Him? But there is more. When I trust the Lord and walk under His leadership and Lordship of my life, He makes me and I feel secure. Proverbs says, “He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.” (Prov 14:26) Did you know everywhere the word fear is used in the Bible it means “fear.” Literally. Jesus told us we should not fear those who can harm the body. But we should fear the one who has authority over our eternal soul. Like a child should have a health fear of their parents. “I fear I may be disciplined if I disobey.” Or “I love my parents and I would be fearful to do anything to embarrass them or hurt our family name.” Those are good and healthy fears, and they used to be how children felt. We as children of God should have a healthy fear and reverence for the Lord. We should respect who He is. His authority over us. And His instruction and direction for our lives. And when we do, we are the beneficiaries! And, not only us, but we influence our family as well. The Lord is my protector and my security. And because He is, I love, fear and desire to obey Him. Lord, as I put my trust in You, may my influence spread to others including my family and friends. Thank You, Lord for being my security and refuge every day! In Jesus name, amen.
