Just a Thought: What should I be looking for? Sometimes I will see my wife walking around the house and I can tell by her mannerism, she is looking for something. Likewise, she may see me doing the same thing. And when we see this, we ask, “What are you looking for?” Other times we may ask each other, “Have you seen my…?” Then we are both on the search. Well, let me ask you today what you are looking for? I am not really speaking of something you miss placed in the house. I am asking in general. In life. Specifically, what are you looking for? What is missing? Or what do you desire to have? What do you think would add value or fill the empty spot in your life. One day Jesus came upon the scene and John the Baptist recognized and identified Him. And two of John disciples immediately began to follow Jesus. When they did, He asked them the same question. “What are you looking for?” “The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.” (Jn 1:35-37) They saw and heard something in and about Jesus that made them think, He has something we want. Or He can do something for us. There was something about Jesus that made them want to find what they were looking for in Him. When the Bible says they followed Jesus, it literally means they began to walk with Him and believe upon Him. My friend, whatever you are looking for today, the first thing that we should be looking for is to walk with Jesus! Literally to walk with Him wherever He is going. Walk with Him in harmony and fellowship. Walk with Him in agreement. Walk with Him in as a learner, allowing Him to teach us along the way. And literally to believe upon Him. Believe His word. Trust in His promises. Obey His commands. And let His words be a lamp unto our feet to guide and illuminate our path. What should I be looking for? The first thing, and the most important thing I should be looking for everyday is Jesus as the Lord and leader of my life! What are you looking for today? May I suggest you will find it in Jesus.
